A passion, to a hobby, to a career?

Interior design has always been a passion of mine, but it wasn't until recently that I actually picked up a pencil and went for it. I always had the designs in my head, but I was scared to put them down on paper for fear of others not liking what I had created.
However, I decided to forget all of those insecure thoughts and start designing. While I know I still have a long way to go, I have found out that I love designing kitchens and dining rooms, so I have focused much of my time perfecting those areas. I started to actually show these designs to family and friends and they were actually really impressed with them. One of my advisors found me drawing them one day in our galleries, and he said he definitely wants to see more of my work because he sees a pretty definite future in it.

A lot of the designs start sloppy and indefinite. Some of them get color while others do not because I could see the color palettes going many ways. I love actually creating these rooms into physical spaces by thrifting items and re-designing them to fit a space, or finding hidden gems on a very strict budget. I'm slowly transitioning into creating these designs digitally, but for now, just like I have been for years, I'm very much a pen and paper girl.
A lot of my inspiration is pulled from rooms I have seen, while others I dream about and just have to get down on paper. This is definitely a new realm of art for me, but it's probably my favorite by far. It started out as a passion in high school, has recently turned into a hobby, and it is looking like it has a good chance at becoming a part of another career path. I would love to do this everyday. Even if I wasn't putting designs down on paper, I would love to be the one buying pieces to fit a space, or evaluating a room's potential.
